Omega-3 fatty acids are "good fats" that are essential for optimal health.
Like vitamins and minerals, omega-3 must be supplied by our diet as it is not produced by our bodies. EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) are the active forms of omega-3 required by the body to perform vital functions.

Volatile Compounds
The oxidation (breakdown) of fish oils is a complex process that occurs in many stages. Pharmaceutical quality fish oils measure Peroxide Value (PV) and p-anisidine as markers of oxidation. Pharmaceutical quality fish oils however, do not measure Volatile Compound (VC) formation, which is another important marker of fish oil oxidation. The formation of VCs in fish oils results in an unpleasant fishy taste and smell. Through the use of sophisticated processing methods and natural antioxidants Ascenta’s fish oils have extremely low VC levels and maintain a fresh, non-fishy taste and smell throughout its shelf life.

Triglycerides
Natural fish oils are comprised of molecules called triglycerides (TG), however most pharmaceutical quality fish oils are converted into an alternate semi-synthetic form called an ethyl ester (EE). Natural TG fish oils have each fatty acid linked to a glycerol backbone whereas EE fish oils have one fatty acid linked to one molecule of ethanol (alcohol). A number of studies have demonstrated that TG fish 2–3 times better than their EE counterpart. All Ascenta fish oils are in a 100% natural triglyceride form.

Green Tea
Ascenta’s unique green tea antioxidant makes NutraSea products the most stable and freshest tasting on the market. Research trials found Ascenta’s green tea antioxidant to be 40 % more effective than the leading fish oil antioxidant and 100 % more effective than the synthetic antioxidant BHT.

Storage
Store in a cool area, away from light. After opening, refrigerate and consume within 90 days. Product may change appearance when refrigerated. Keep bottle tightly closed to preserve freshness. Do not use if safety seal is broken or missing.

Directions
  • Adults take 1 tsp. or 4 softgels daily.
  • Children 14 years and older take 1 tsp. daily.
  • Children under 14 years take ½ tsp. daily.
